Forest Service Road 211

So today, it was warm and sunny, with a forecast of cold weather for several days and possibly snow. So I knew I had to get out for a ride or I'd hate myself for missing the chance. I decided to hit the Forest Service Road 211 loop again. Someone showed it to me earlier this year, I'm pretty sure.

But something odd happened to me before I got out of Conifer. I ran into a guy at the gas station on the exact same motorcycle as mine. Same make. Same model. Same year. And I thought it was a sign from above that we should ride together.

Me: Is that a 2017 Honda Africa Twin?

Him: Yep.

Me: How many miles you have on it?

Him: 3,000. You?

Me: 55,000.

So we decided to ride together.

From Aspen Park to the trail head is about 30 miles.

FS Road 211 is approximately 25 miles, And it spits you out about 35 miles south of Jefferson on Tarryall Road (Park County Road 77).

Leg Distance Total
Aspen Park 0 0
Trail head 30 30
Trail end 25 55
Jefferson 35 90
Aspen Park 40 130

This ride from FS Road 211 north to Jefferson is stunning. I didn't take any photos, but the scenery is just unbelievable.

It was a beautiful ride, but what surprised me, I think was that we came to a campground, and he noted that someone had walked off from the campsite/campgrounds and just disappeared from the face of the earth. So, I wasn't sure if I remember this or not. I'm going to see if I can find the article.

"On September 6, 2002, Terry Schmidt, DOB 01/21/1949 was reported missing while staying at the Lost Valley Ranch located at 29555 Goose Creek Road. Terry had traveled with her husband, Wiltz Wagner, from Indiana to attend an annual conference. Terry's husband last saw her at noon on September 6, 2002 when they had lunch. She told him she was going to go hiking on the Cheeseman Overlook Trail after lunch. Wiltz and Terry were supposed to meet for dinner that evening but Terry never showed up.

Over the next four days, 80 volunteers searched for Terry to include helicopters and fixed wing airplanes, but no signs of Terry were ever found."
