To that list I would add Virtual Box

www.virtualbox.org

or VMWare Workstation

www.vmware.com/products/workstation

Technically, VMWare Workstation is not free, but it was possible to indefinitely renew the free evaluation license every 30 days. I don't know if this is still the case, as I have not used it in years.

I do my web surfing inside a virtual machine, so as to protect my host system from web sites that have been infected with malicious software or code. This also allows me to reset the guest system back to its initial state on a regular basis (to remove any malware I haven't detected, or work-around an unfixable system error), and to even set up separate virtual machines for sensitive tasks such as on-line banking and on-line shopping.
