Hillary Downplays MLK's Role in Civil Rights

Hillary Rodham said: “Dr. King’s dream began to be realized when President Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act, Mrs. Clinton said when asked about Mr. Obama’s rejoinder by Fox’s Major Garrett after her speech in Dover. “It took a president to get it done.

First of all, what she said was offensive and insulting. It would be roughly equivalent to one of the male candidates downplaying the role of Susan B. Anthony in women's suffrage. "They were really just a bunch of housewives. At the end of the day, the men allowed them to vote."

Second of all, it was stupid because, by downplaying MLK's contribution to blacks in the United States, Hillarydrug the issue of race into the election. I never thought she was that stupid.

Racism is a tarbaby. The only way to win is not to fight the battle at all. Once allegations of racism have been made, you are finished. You can't say "Oh, that's not what I meant" or "Stop being so sensitive" or "Stop playing the race card at every opportunity". The only thing you can do is apologize profusely and sincerely and agree to go to sensitivity training.

I think that HIllary is fighting an uphill battle at this point as, even if she somehow manages to avoid sensitivity training, she is on notice from here on out. She's already been tarred as racially insensitive. From here on out, she'll have to be much more careful about what she says during the campaign, and I'm not sure she can win with one arm tied behind her back.
