D-Link Gigabit Swtich DGS-2205
This D-Link Gigabit Switch is really slick. Now, in all sincerity, I have no clue what a switch is or what it does. I figured I needed a Gigabit router, but this stuff is pretty much bleeding edge for the home market. I couldn't find a Gigabit Router in CompUSA to save my life. But the little pencil-neck geek suggested that maybe all I needed was a switch. I honestly wasn't sure. My concern is that it is not a DHCP Server, so how will my clients get their dynamic IP address assigned to them. But, my suspicions were that the little geek might be right. That the switch might pass the incomping DCHP request through to my existing 10/100 Wireless Router if I hooked the switch into the UPLINK port on my existing router. And, besides, the D-Link DGS-2205 only costs $40.00 at CompUSA, so I figured, what the h3ll?
Well, it worked. I plugged the thing in and hooked it up and voila. It's working. Smooth as a baby's @ss.
