"Path Too Deep" error copying files across LAN
I got this error message "path too deep" trying to copy across my home LAN with new Sony Vaio SZ120P laptop. Very frustrating. I have a 100 Mb router. Use Windows Workgroups for my network. Copying files wasn't working for some reason. Either got "path too deep" or "specified network name is no longer available". Tried setting speed of both LAN cards to 100MB/Full Duplex. Turned off Flow Control. Rebooted. Nothing worked. Checked cable. Said CAT5 cable. Replaced cable. Still no dice. Finally, used a 3rd cable, it works fine now. Two bad cables. Or maybe they just weren't rated high enough for 100 MB/sec? Who knows. Working now.
