Memorial Day at St. Mary's Glacier

Note that Jennifer is decked out in her heaviest winter ski jacket and pants in this photo taken on Saturday, May 27th. t's weird to think about how cold it is up there in the mountains. On Saturday, it was 75-80 degrees at my house (elevation = 7,450 ft). But, when we got up to 11,000 feet in Clear Creek County, it was cold. The trails to Chin's Lake and Loch Lomond were both still closed due to snow pack. Probably within the next month they should be open.

Note that there are 2 ATV's in this photo. When you're up in the mountains, it's more fun if everyone has their own ride. Jennifer did a fine job on hers. When the pass opens up over Webster Pass, I may let her drive her little 70 cc ATV across the contintal divide. How cool would that be?
