When Knives Are Outlawed...
When knives are outlawed, only outlaws will have knives. Fresh on the heels of their remarkably unsuccessful gun ban, the Aussies are now looking very closely at the sale and possession of....wait for it....knives. That's right. Did you know that children of any age can legally buy and posess machetes? No background check. No serial numbers. No age restrictions.
In the wake of a string of attacks in the Brisbane area involving knives, The Sunday Mail has uncovered a wide selection of weapons being sold in camping and outdoors stores.
Hunting knives with names such as the Outlaw, the Excalibur, the Fury Muerta and the Deer Hunter are being sold from as little as $25. Machetes can be bought for just over $15.
When is this country going to adopt some common sense "knife control" laws? Why not sue the knife manufactures? Institute a "cooling off" period for knife purchases? Can't we at least stop the importation of "assualt knives"? Why on earth would a child need a machete anyway? To open coconuts?
