Pentagon Developing Spying Robotic Insects

The pentagon is trying to implant chips into insects to that flies can be turned into remote controlled drones. Last week, the Pentagon called for proposals to turn insects into "insect cyborgs":

Last week the Pentagon's Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) called for bids on the project. "Darpa seeks innovative proposals to develop technology to create insect-cyborgs, possibly enabled by intimately integrating microsystems within insects, during their early stages of metamorphoses," its advertisement says.

This news comes close on the heels of their remote-controlled cyborg shark program.

I, for one, welcome our new fly-shark-cyborg overlords.
