Disaster Preparedness For Victims

To me, this is really shocking. I mean, it's one thing for the politically correct and the UN and the pseudointellectuals to discreetly push their campaign of disarmament. But, to publish an "Emergency Preparedness List" and deliberatley omit the lynchpin that will guarantee your survival is reprehensible. I'm starting a list of "Emergency Preparendess Lists" here that deliberately neglect to include "a firearm and ammunition" from their lists of items needed in an emergency. How despicable that these miscreants at the WSJ and the LAFD will stoop so low as to advance their own political agenda at the expense of the lives of innocent citizens. It's utterly revolting.

Update: The CDC Hurricane Readiness mentions you should get your will in order, but doesn't bother to recommend you obtain a firearm. FEMA lists everything you'll need from a fire extinguisher and cash down to food and matches. No mention of a firearm. The Department of Homeland Security suggests a whistle, dust mask, duct tape and plastic sheeting, compass and signal flare. No firearms though. The Red Cross suggests you have a tent, needle, thread, whistle, and maps, but no firearms. NOAA recommends you have can openener, cooking utensils, and fuel, but no firearms.

Update 2: The tree-hugging idiot from the WSJ contacted me and said I owed him an apology, as his article only reviewed electronics, not all items required for a disaster. I told him I would apologize if he could find a sentence in their paper in the last hundred years supporting the right to bear arms. Needles to say, he couldn't.

If anyone finds more, please post them in the comments section.

There are many things that people have called the men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Incorrect, short-sighted, simplistic... but I must admit that an ad-hominem attack labeling them as "miscreant" is not in any way furthering your agenda.

Please rest assured that these civil servants, though seemingly unwilling to write tomes that express every viewpoint, stand by to give it all to protect you in times of duress.

Say that we're wrong, say that you'd do it different, but please leave the personal attacks aside.

It is the most base and reprehensible action imaginable to pretend to have someone's best interest at heart, and not recommend they arm themselves in the event of an emergency. Can you possibly imagine anyone in those seething cauldrons of crime and poverty that you so proudly claim in Los Angeles? Would you really recommend that anyone living in Watts, Crenshaw, and Compton not keep a firearm in the event of a disaster? To recommend to these people that they do not need a firearm in the event of an emergency is a grotesque travestry of malfeasance. It betrays a shocking contempt for the potential well-being of the vicitims of the LAPD. You should say at the top of the list "We don't care whether you live or die, just please don't shoot us." By the way, the ostrich is classic. As in, stick your head in the sand and pretend you won't need a weapon when it all hits the fan. Absolutely despicable.

Have to side with PW on this one.

To not even address civil unrest in time of disaster is a dereliction of duty to protect. Why no advice to move away from looters? Why no advice to form groups for mutual protection?
If you have all the equipment listed, you will become a target very quickly.

God help the lot of you.
