Jimmy Carter doesn't approve of war in Iraq

President Jimmy Carter doesn't think we should be in Iraq. This is classic. President Jimmy Carter pontificating on U.S. foreign policy reminds me of the space monkeys in 2001:A Space Odyssey. I have to think that most people that survived his administration are thinking "Shut up. Sit down. You had your chance, tree-hugger."

For those who are fortunate enough not to have suffered through the Carter administration, he made America a laughing stock. When the Iranians evicted the Shah in 1979, they made a pass through the U.S. embassy, took a bunch of U.S. citizens hostage, and held them for over a year. While they were burning U.S. flags in the desert and dancing across the scorching sands in white dish-towel wardrobes, Carter was attacking a bunny rabbit with a canoe paddle in the swamps of Georgia.

The whole world saw the United States as an emasculated, paper-tiger country, that couldn't even rescue 66 people from a bunch of desert rat terrorists. We were the laughing stock of the entire world. So Jimmy - Sit down. Shut up. No one cares what you think.

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. The Iran hostage crisis and your weenie leadership just wasn't enough of a bad legacy for you, was it. Little did we know that you also loved the "wronged" Castro, accepted the Nobel Peace Prize under less than honorable conditions, and are now pontificating as though anyone even cares what you think. I read Steven Hayward's book about you, you know the one where he called you the worst ex-president who undermines American foreign policy, coddles dictators, and created the party of Clinton and Kerry. In a way, I guess I have to thank Carter. Thanks to him and then Clinton, the Democratic party is pretty much in the crapper. There's a legacy for ya. As the bank robber, Willie Sutton said, "I've never seen a bigger confience man in my life and I've been around some of the best in the world." and, as Hayward says "Jimmy Carter's laundry list of failures aren't just accidents of history. They're rooted in Carter's deeply flawed character and ideology--a smugly pious arrogance, matched with a profound distrust of America." Jimmy Carter....Anti-American.

Carter's policies could not have weakened this country more if he tried.

Of course that begs the question: Was he trying?
